U.S., Heavy Duty Lacing: Built with two tightly fit cross-bars tenons and a round nose, the U.S. is a really narrow snowshoe but extra long to offer maximum flotation. The narrow form allows for a use similar to skis, to explore plains and open fields. The model was built in the American territory where taller trees allowed the fabrication of a really long snowshoe with a single piece of wood; in Northern Canada where trees were smaller, the Ojibwa was built with two shorter pieces of wood.  The heavy duty lacing is ideal for spring time conditions and wet snow.

The U.S. model is also called: Cross Country, Trail, Alaska or Pickerel

Traditional snowshoes are sold without bindings. All traditional bindings will fit on all sizes and shapes of traditional snowshoes. Each member of a pair of tradional snowshoes are identical with only the binding placement differentiating the left from the right foot.

Additional Information

We recommend storing the snowshoes in a dry cool place, protected from the sun. At the beginning of every season, we also recommend cleaning the snowshoes and re-varnishing them with an oil-based wood varnish for exterior use.
